About this event

Workshops can only be attended live and will not be recorded. Please sign up only if you are available to participate in the entirety of the workshop.

Scientists acquire more managing, advising, and mentoring responsibilities as they advance in their careers, yet are not traditionally provided with guidance on how to mentor effectively. As new student cohorts become more diverse, it can be challenging to connect with and correctly assess their needs. With the right training, mentors can make a positive impact on students, which in turn can increase retention, performance, and research outcomes. This workshop will empower participants to unpack their beliefs about mentoring, question harmful narratives common in academia, and become more empathic mentors to marginalized students.
